One of the most precious twelve jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, The Kedarnath shrine is delightfully situated in majestic Kedarnath range. As Kedar is one more name of God Shiva, this holly shrine is named after him. Similarly, Badrinath is one of the most celebrated pilgrimage places of the country, situated on either side by the two mountain ranges, widely known as Nar & Narayan. Badrinath-Kedarnath Yatra is the best approach to continue with spiritual journey.
After winning war of Mahabharta, Pandavas felt guilty of killing their own brothers therefore sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for liberation. In order to escape them, Lord Shiva took shelter at Kedarnath in the form of a bull, leaving his hump on the surface. The left over fractions of Lord Shiva appeared at four different places and are worshipped there as his appearances. The arms appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madhmaheshwar and hair at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath is one of the five shrines that are known as Panch Kedar.
